when faced with designing a bridge, slovenian architect damjan bradac — with colleagues mark koritnik and maria coutinho — approached the challenge with nautical engineering in mind. similar in many design-related issues, the bridge enables high-functionality while remaining minimal in mass. this philosophy dictated the selection of carbon-fiber — a proven standard in racing and vessel design — as well as the minimal arching form. smart, light, and elegant, the ‘carbon-fiber bridge’ blends in, rather than obscures, surroundings in its planned location: ljubljana, slovenia.
